Jon Steven Young was born on October 11, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LeGrande Young and Sherry Young. He grew up in a competitive family with siblings Tom, Melissa, Jim, and Mike Young.
Young attended Greenwich High School in Connecticut before playing college football at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he set numerous NCAA passing records.
He also attended law school at the J. Reuben Clark Building (JRCB) at BYU from 1988 to 1994.

Steve Young began his professional career in the USFL with the Los Angeles Express in 1984 before joining the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985.

Young led the 49ers to Super Bowl victories in 1989, 1990, and 1995, earning MVP honors in Super Bowl XXIX.
He set multiple NFL records for passer rating and completion percentage while earning seven Pro Bowl selections and three First-team All-Pro honors.
