Asa Asika, the influential Nigerian music executive and longtime manager of Afrobeat superstar Davido, announced his engagement to his partner, Leona Adesanya, on Wednesday. The engagement marks a new personal milestone in the life of one of Africa’s most recognizable entertainment figures.
The couple shared the news on social media alongside a series of carefully styled pre-wedding photographs that quickly charmed fans and industry figures alike. Asika, 35, is best known as the co-founder of Plug Entertainment and for his strategic role in managing Davido’s career—a partnership that has helped propel the artist to international stardom.

The engagement was revealed through a collection of photos showcasing the couple in traditional and contemporary attire, from rich burgundy aso-oke ensembles to minimalist black-and-white evening wear. In one image, Asika is seen in a flowing agbada, while Adesanya wears a form-fitting gown with a sweetheart neckline. Asika and Adesanya’s engagement comes after a private proposal on September 13, 2024, reportedly attended by close friends, including Davido. A video from the proposal circulated widely, showing cheers erupting as Adesanya accepted the ring.
The announcement also rekindled public curiosity about Asika’s earlier relationship with Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire heiress Florence “DJ Cuppy” Otedola.
