Zlatan Ibile Reportedly Married Davita Lamai in May, So What Is Saturday All About?
Zlatan Ibile, the street-pop star who turned the Zanku dance into a national craze, is set to hold his wedding celebration with Davita Lamai on Saturday in Lagos.
The event ends months of public guessing about whether the couple, together for several years and raising two sons, were already married.

The singer, born Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, announced the date on the night of Thursday, October 8, in a short Instagram video captioned only with the day itself and tagged #DTTheUnion. The couple’s older son, Shiloh Toluwalase Ainoghena Omoniyi, narrated the clip, speaking about love as he has seen it between his parents and saying he and his younger brother, Benaiah Omoniyi, are part of their story.
Davido, born David Adebayo Adeleke, a longtime friend and early champion of Zlatan‘s career, replied in the comments with “Na man U be.” Poco Lee, JaDroLita, Broda Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, and the media personality Toke Makinwa also posted congratulations.
Preparations have moved quickly since. On Monday, October 19, Davita shared pastel-themed pre-wedding photographs on her Instagram page, with her gown credited to the label Lasosa By Pam Pam.
The Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface reportedly sent the couple three cows as a gift. Davido arrived in Nigeria on Thursday for the ceremony, a day after posting a photograph of dollar bundles on his Instagram Story. Zlatan, for his part, attended Davido and Chioma‘s white wedding in Miami in August 2025. Chioma‘s full name is Chioma Avril Rowland.
The couple have not made the venue or guest list public. They also have not said whether Saturday’s event will be a traditional wedding, a white wedding or both.
The road to the date was unusually public. On January 27, Zlatan used his X page to dismiss a widely shared post, falsely attributed to him, that described Davita as the mother of his child but not his wife. He called the post fake and criticized people who circulate content without checking it.
In March, speculation resurfaced after Davita added Omoniyi, his surname, to her Instagram name, and family photographs showing the two wearing matching rings kept the rumors going.
On May 20, a wedding decorator posted photographs of what it called the private civil ceremony of Davita and Zlatan, showing him in a suit and her in white. Neither of them had announced it, and the post surprised many of their followers.
In late July, on a private jet carrying guests to the Lagos wedding of the music executive Soso Soberekon, the singer Teni, born Teniola Apata, introduced the couple to fellow passengers as people about to have their wedding. Davita then invited everyone on board to attend, though no date was given. A video of the moment spread widely online, and October 24 became the first date the couple put forward.
Davita, who is also known as Davita Omoniyi, has kept a far lower profile than her partner. Reports describe her as a graduate of the University of Kent and a UK-based media personality and entrepreneur. The couple’s first child arrived in 2020, and she has since had a second son.
She once recalled that Zlatan, despite his bold stage presence, was too shy to ask for her number when they first met and found an indirect way to get it.
Zlatan, now 31 years old, was born on December 19, 1994, and studied business administration at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. He won an Airtel-backed rap competition in Abeokuta before breaking through in 2017 with “My Body,” featuring Olamide, born Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, a song that spread after a video of Davido dancing to it went viral.
His 2018 single “Zanku (Leg Work)” made him a household name, and the title’s acronym stands for “Zlatan Abeg No Kill Us.” He signed an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola in July 2019, released his debut album, Zanku, that November, and founded the label Zanku Records in January 2020.
His second album, Resan, followed in 2021, and his collaboration with Burna Boy, born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, “Killin Dem,” won an award for best collaboration.
Local media reported earlier this year that he bought a Lamborghini reportedly worth 612 million naira (approximately $425,000).
