The Nigerian naira is trading at approximately ₦1,390 to ₦1,400 against the United States dollar on the black market on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, as the parallel market continues to reflect a premium over the official Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rate.

Parallel market dealers are currently buying dollars at around ₦1,390 and selling at ₦1,400, figures that have held relatively steady across major trading hubs including Lagos, Abuja, and Kano. The spread between the buy and sell rates remains tight, a pattern that forex watchers say reflects cautious but active trading conditions in the informal market.

The British pound is exchanging at ₦1,870 on the sell side and ₦1,840 on the buy side, while the euro is trading at ₦1,600 to sell and ₦1,570 to buy. The Canadian dollar is quoted at approximately ₦1,018 to sell.

The official CBN rate stands notably lower than the parallel market figure, a gap that continues to drive demand for foreign exchange through informal channels among traders, students, travelers, and businesses unable to access dollars through commercial banks at the regulated rate.

Looking at the broader recent trend, the dollar-to-naira rate on the official market fluctuated between a high of ₦1,373.10 on 8th June and a low of ₦1,361.16 on 5th June 2026, indicating a naira that has broadly stabilized compared to the volatility seen in late 2025.

Nigeria’s capital importation surged 83.83% to $10.37 billion in Q1 2026, driven largely by portfolio investment, a development that analysts say has helped support the naira and narrow the premium between the official and parallel market rates in recent months.

As always, rates in the black market are subject to intraday movement and can vary by location and volume of transaction. Individuals are advised to monitor reliable forex tracking platforms for real-time updates before conducting any exchange.
