The naira traded against the dollar at varying rates across official and unofficial channels on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with street dealers commonly known as Aboki quoting a premium over the Central Bank of Nigeria window.

In the parallel market, buyers of the greenback typically paid between ₦1,385 and ₦1,410 for one dollar depending on the city, volume, and individual trader, while sellers of dollars received slightly less, often in the ₦1,379 to ₦1,390 range.

Official figures from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market showed the naira around ₦1,323 to ₦1,334 per dollar, leaving a gap of roughly ₦60 to ₦80 that continues to draw both businesses and individuals toward informal dealers when official allocations are unavailable or delayed.

Trackers noted modest day-to-day movement, with some reports describing a small easing in the dollar’s parallel-market price compared with the previous session and others recording a modest uptick, underscoring how quickly quotes can shift with local supply.

The spread persists even as interbank turnover has risen and external reserves have shown incremental improvement, reflecting ongoing demand for dollars that official channels have not fully absorbed.

Rates quoted by Bureau de Change operators and street traders in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt can differ by several naira from one another, so anyone exchanging cash is advised to compare multiple sources rather than rely on a single figure. Foreign-exchange prices remain fluid and can change later in the day as new inflows or demand pressures emerge.
