The Nigerian naira continued to trade at a clear premium to the official window on Friday, 18 September 2026, as parallel-market dealers in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt quoted the dollar at about ₦1,375 to buy and ₦1,390 to sell. That street price means 100 dollars cost roughly ₦139,000 if purchased from an Aboki trader and would fetch about ₦137,500 if sold to one.

The official Central Bank of Nigeria rate sat near ₦1,330 to ₦1,331 per dollar, leaving a gap of roughly ₦45 to ₦60, or about 4 percent, between the two markets. Other trackers reported slightly different street quotes on the same day, with some Bureau de Change compilations showing buy and sell figures around ₦1,381 and ₦1,386 and another mid-rate near ₦1,387.50, underscoring that cash prices still vary by location, volume and time of day.

Dealers said demand for dollars remained firm among travellers, importers and people settling school fees or medical bills abroad, while supply on the street depended on inflows from diaspora transfers and leftover official allocations. The naira had already slipped a little at the official window from midweek levels, and the parallel market followed with a modest rise from earlier in the week, when some reports put the street dollar closer to ₦1,370.

For everyday users the difference is immediate. A thousand dollars bought on the black market would require about ₦1.39 million at the higher sell quote, compared with roughly ₦1.33 million at the official rate if access to that window were available. Market watchers said attention remains on how much foreign exchange the Central Bank continues to sell, the strength of import demand, and whether weekend cash trading stays close to Friday’s ₦1,375–₦1,390 band.
