Street dealers in the Aboki market opened the week quoting the US dollar at about ₦1,355 to ₦1,365 when buying cash from customers and ₦1,370 to ₦1,375 when selling on Monday, 5 October 2026, across Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

A person handing over $100 would therefore receive roughly ₦135,500–₦136,500, while someone needing the same amount of dollars would pay close to ₦137,000–₦137,500. The official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate published by the Central Bank of Nigeria stayed near ₦1,330 to ₦1,332 per dollar, leaving a street premium of about ₦40 to ₦45, or a little over 3 percent.

Monday quotes largely carried over the firmer weekend band rather than jumping back toward the higher levels seen earlier in the month, and demand from importers, travelers and students was described as steady as full business resumed.

External reserves were last reported near $54.93 billion, with oil receipts still supporting official liquidity. Quotes still differed a little by location, volume and the hour of the day, and operators warned that the informal rate can shift before the close of business.

The gap between the official window and the parallel market has stayed comparatively tight by recent historical standards, yet cash transactions outside the banking system remain the practical benchmark for many users who cannot obtain dollars at the CBN rate.

Anyone planning to change money was advised to confirm the live figure with a trusted bureau or dealer, because parallel-market prices are not fixed and can move on local supply and remittance inflows.
