Chef Dammy’s Arrest: Ekiti Govt Sues Pastor, Demands N10M

In a bold move, the Ekiti State government has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Pastor Jeremiah Adegoke, the ex-pastor of Chef Dammy, at the state High Court in Ado Ekiti. The legal action, brought forth by the Directorate of Citizens Rights (DCR) at the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice on behalf of Chef Dammy, accuses Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police Command of violating the chef’s fundamental human rights.

Chef Dammy, whose real name is Damilola Adeparusi, gained attention for her attempt to break a Guinness World Record. The lawsuit comes in response to Chef Dammy‘s recent arrest, allegedly ordered by Pastor Adegoke, who heads the Spirit Word Global Mission. This Ekiti-based church reportedly sponsored Dammy‘s record-breaking Cook-a-Thon.

The DCR has sought legal recourse, asking the court to restrain Pastor Adegoke and the police from further arresting Chef Dammy. Additionally, they are demanding N10 million in compensation for aggravated damages suffered by the chef.

The lawsuit, filed on Friday, November 24, names Chef Dammy as the applicant and includes Pastor AdegokeAjewole Samuel (the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police), and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17 Akure, as respondents.

The legal action seeks a declaration that the continued harassment, molestation, threats of arrest, and intimidation by Pastor Adegoke, in collaboration with Mr. Samuel and the Nigerian police, constitutes a violation of the applicant’s fundamental human rights.

Furthermore, the lawsuit requests a restraining order preventing Chef Dammy‘s arrest and demands compensation of N10 million for the aggravation and damages caused by the alleged infringement of her rights.

This legal development unfolds amid the controversy surrounding Chef Dammys arrest, bringing attention to human rights issues and alleged abuse of power within the Ekiti State. The lawsuit signals a proactive stance by the Ekiti State government to address the situation and uphold justice in the face of Chef Dammy‘s reported mistreatment.
