Meet Shefali Jariwala’s Parents: Satish Jariwala and Sunita Jariwala

Shefali Jariwala, fondly remembered as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” left a lasting legacy in the Indian entertainment industry with her bold and unforgettable debut in the 2002 remix music video Kaanta Laga.

Born on December 15, 1982, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Shefali grew up in a loving Gujarati Hindu household with strong family values. She was the daughter of Satish Jariwala, a chartered accountant, and Sunita Jariwala, an employee at the State Bank of India. Alongside her younger sister, Shivani Jariwala, Shefali was raised in an environment that emphasized discipline, education, and emotional support.

She completed her schooling in Ahmedabad before moving to Mumbai to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Sardar Patel College of Engineering. Despite her academic background, Shefali’s passion for performing arts led her to take a leap into the entertainment world at the age of 19.

Her appearance in Kaanta Laga catapulted her to nationwide fame, beginning a career that would span films, music videos, and reality television. Behind her journey were her devoted parents, whose influence, support, and values remained a constant throughout her life.

Satish Jariwala

Shefali’s father, Satish Jariwala, was a respected chartered accountant known for his structured and pragmatic approach to life. Coming from a traditional Gujarati background, he valued academic success and initially hoped his daughter would focus on her studies rather than the uncertainties of show business.

When Shefali was offered the Kaanta Laga music video role at 19, she was still pursuing her IT degree. In interviews, Shefali shared how Satish was hesitant about her stepping into the glamour industry, urging her to prioritize her education.

Despite his reservations, Satish never stopped supporting Shefali. After much persuasion, he eventually agreed to let her take the opportunity—a decision that would change her life forever.

His influence instilled in her the discipline and focus that helped her thrive in a competitive industry. Following Shefali’s untimely death on June 27, 2025, Satish was seen during her last rites at the Oshiwara Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai, visibly grief-stricken, a heartbreaking testament to the bond he shared with his daughter.

Sunita Jariwala

Shefali’s mother, Sunita Jariwala, worked at the State Bank of India and played a pivotal role in her daughter’s life as both caregiver and emotional anchor.

Balancing her career with motherhood, Sunita was described as a strong yet gentle presence who deeply nurtured Shefali’s dreams and well-being. She stood by Shefali during personal and health challenges, most notably when Shefali began battling epilepsy at the age of 15.

With her mother’s support, Shefali turned to yoga and fitness to manage her condition and rebuild her self-esteem—practices she would champion publicly in later years.

Sunita’s profound connection with Shefali was evident in both life and loss. In the aftermath of Shefali’s sudden death at age 42, reportedly from a cardiac arrest, Sunita’s devastation was widely seen.

She arrived at Shefali’s residence in Mumbai supported by family, her grief apparent. During the final rites at Oshiwara, she remained by her daughter’s side, overwhelmed with sorrow. The emotional scenes reflected the depth of their relationship—a bond rooted in unwavering love, strength, and maternal care.
