George Rainsford was born on 31 July 1982 in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, to parents referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Rainsford.
He spent his early years in Holmfirth, Kirkburton, and other parts of the Huddersfield area until age 14, later moving with his family to Derbyshire, and has one sister who lives in Leeds.
He attended Repton School in Derbyshire, where his interest in drama developed, before studying for a Bachelor of Arts in drama at the University of Manchester and becoming involved in student theatre.

George Rainsford began his professional career shortly after graduating from LAMDA in 2006, making his stage debut as D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers at the Bristol Old Vic.
Early television work followed with roles in Doctors and a semi-regular part as Luke Boyd in Waking the Dead, alongside guest appearances in Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Law & Order: UK.
