Early Life and Education
Jayasurya was born on August 31, 1978, in Thrippunithura, Kochi, Kerala. He was born to Mani and Thankam and grew up in a Malayali Hindu family. He studied at St. George U.P. School, Chambakkara, followed by Government Sanskrit High School, Tripunithura.
He has a sibling, Chandana Jayasuriya.
He later graduated from All Saints College, Ernakulam, earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After college, he joined mimicry groups including Cochin Discovery and Crown of Cochin.
Career
Jayasurya began his entertainment career as a mimicry artist and television presenter, hosting Malayalam programs before moving into cinema. His early screen appearances included minor roles, while his breakthrough as a leading actor came in 2002 through Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan, directed by Vinayan.
He gradually moved beyond comedy and supporting parts, taking on challenging dramatic, romantic, negative, and character-driven roles.
His performances in Iyobinte Pusthakam, Apothecary, Su.. Su… Sudhi Vathmeekam, Lukka Chuppi, Captain, Njan Marykutty, and Vellam established him as one of Malayalam cinema’s versatile performers.
