Joshua Carter Jackson (born June 11, 1978) is a famous Canadian actor who has cut his teeth in the film industry. He has gained popularity from appearing in successful television shows such as Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003), Fringe (2008-2013), The Affair (2014-2018), Dr Death (2021), amongst others.

Joshua Jackson was born on June 11, 1978, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He gained Canadian citizenship at birth. He has American and Irish ancestry. His father, John Jackson, is an American originally from Texas, while his mother, Fiona Jackson, is a native of Ballyfermot, Ireland. Fiona emigrated to North America in the late 1960s. 

Jackson has a younger sister named Aisleagh Jackson and two older half brothers, Jonathan Carter and Lyman Carter. Although born in Canada, Joshua Jackson spent his early years in California, United States. He lived in California State until he was eight before moving to Vancouver with his mother and younger sister. 

Growing up, Jackson‘s parents raised him Catholic and developed a fondness for the Arts from an early age. By the time he was in his senior year in high school, he aspired to be an actor. Jackson‘s mum supported his dream to build a career in the film industry, just like herself. Fiona Jackson worked as a Casting Director in the film industry.

Joshua Jackson‘s acting career began with a small role in the 1991 film Crooked Hearts. His performance in this role paved the way for him to secure more acting gigs in the industry. The following year, he secured the coveted spot of playing the lead role of Charlie in the musical version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Later, he joined the William Morris Agency, thanks to the help of casting director Laura Kennedy. 

It wasn’t long before Jackson secured the role of Charlie in The Mighty Ducks series, where he portrayed the character of a young and aspiring hockey player.
