He is the only child of Bethann Hardison, a former model and a pioneer for diversity in the fashion industry, and Donald McFadden, an antique and fine art collector.

He attended Saint Ann’s School, a progressive private school in Brooklyn Heights, where he developed his interest in acting. He participated in several school plays and joined the drama club.
