Lillo Brancato was born Saúl Rodríguez on August 30, 1976, in Bogotá, Colombia. At just four months old, he was adopted by Lillo Brancato Sr., a construction worker, and Domenica Brancato, an electrolysist of Italian heritage, who raised him in Yonkers, New York.

He grew up with his adoptive younger brother, Vincent “Vinny” Brancato. Although born in Colombia, Brancato has often described himself as culturally Italian because of the way he was raised.
