Nkosinathi Maphalala (born 30 March 1989) whose professional name is Nay Maps is a South African actor and musician.

He is widely known for his role as Mxolosi in the popular South African soap opera, Uzalo.

In January 2021, he made the headline for losing his grandmother barely a week after losing his grandfather.

Early Life

Nay Maps was born on the 30th day of March in 1989.

He is the first and only son of his family and has two younger sisters. His father is a Pastor and Christian musician along with his mom. He inherited his musical skills from them.

He was born and raised in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.

Education

Nay Maps attended Sunnyside Primary School and Lyttelton Manor High School.

He then joined the University of Pretoria where he majored in Information technology, programming, and software.

Career

Irrespective of his academic background in information technology, Nay Maps possessed an innate talent and passion for the arts. He started out as a presenter and got his big break as a presenter on the show Hashtag on channel ANN7.

He has also worked in the field of Modeling and has made several appearances on commercials for top South African brands. His first role on TV brought him widespread fame.

He was cast in 2014 as a guest star for the role of Tshepo in the second season of Isibaya and since then he has not looked back but instead has attained giant strides in that field.

His guest performance in Isibaya earned him a place in the cast of South Africa’s most popular series Uzalo. He played the role of Mxolisi Mdletshe; a young man that separates himself from his family business address discovering the dirty practices involved in the business.

Along with two co-stars, he was removed from the show after four years in 2018 causing a negative reaction from the fans and supporters of the show.
