Nelson Dilipkumar was born on June 21, 1984, in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. He earned a degree in Visual Communication from The New College, Chennai. After graduating, he began his career as an assistant scriptwriter at Star Vijay.
Career
Nelson Dilipkumar initially attempted to make his directorial debut with Vettai Mannan in 2010, but the project was shelved.
He made his official directorial debut with Kolamaavu Kokila in 2018, starring Nayanthara. The film became both a critical and commercial success.
He continued his success with Doctor (2021), starring Sivakarthikeyan, followed by Beast (2022), starring Vijay, and the blockbuster Jailer (2023), featuring Rajinikanth, which became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year. In 2024, he made his debut as a producer with Bloody Beggar.
