Sendhil Ramamurthy, (52 years old), was born on May 17, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in San Antonio, Texas, alongside his sister, Sujatha Ramamurthy, by his parents, Somayaji Ramamurthy and Rajam Ramamurthy, who both worked as physicians after immigrating to the United States from India. His family traces its roots to the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

After graduating from Keystone School in San Antonio in 1991, he enrolled at Tufts University as a pre-med student.
