SEE-moo Lee-yoo (born April 19, 1989), better addressed as Simu Liu, is a multi-talented Canadian actor, writer, producer, and stuntman. 

One of his most notable roles is as Shang-Chi in the highly acclaimed Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. 

Additionally, Simu Liu has charmed audiences with his portrayal of Jung Kim in the popular CBC Television sitcom Kim’s Convenience and also lent his talents to the character Ken in Barbie.

Early Life & Education

Simu Liu, the creative personality, was born in Harbin, China, on April 19, 1989. Up to the age of five, he was nurtured by his grandparents before his parents, who are both engineers, came to Canada to further their schooling. Zhenning Liu and Zheng Liu are the names of his parents. 

He is his parents’ lone child. He went to the University of Toronto Schools, where he neglected his schoolwork in favour of school talent performances and sports. 

Simu Liu enrolled at the University of Western Ontario‘s Ivey Business School. In 2011, he earned a business administration bachelor’s degree. 

Career

Simu Liu began his acting career with a small role as an uncredited background extra in the 2013 movie Pacific Rim. He later appeared in various TV shows, such as Blood and Water, Taken, and Fresh Off the Boat. In 2016, he landed the role of Jung Kim in the popular CBC Television sitcom Kim’s Convenience, which received critical acclaim and commercial success by running for five successful seasons.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings garnered positive reviews for Simu Liu‘s portrayal of Shang-Chi. In 2021, the movie enjoyed a great deal of box office success.

In addition to his successful acting career, Simu Liu is known for his impressive skills as a stuntman, fearlessly performing his stunts in numerous films and television shows.
