Early life and education
Gopichand was born on June 12, 1979, in Kakuturivaripalem in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. He was the younger son of filmmaker and screenwriter Tottempudi Krishna and Koteswaramma. His father died when Gopichand was eight years old.
He has an elder brother, T. Premchand, who worked as an associate director before his death in a car accident, and a younger sister who became a dentist.
Gopichand attended Nil Desperandum School in Ongole and later Ramakrishna Mission School in Chennai. He studied mechanical engineering in Russia before returning to India and completing a course in dialogue modulation.
Career
Gopichand made his acting debut as the lead in the Telugu film Tholi Valapu in 2001. He then took a different direction by playing antagonistic roles in Jayam, Nijam, and Varsham.
His performance as Raghu in Jayam brought him major recognition and established him as a strong performer in negative roles.
He returned as a leading actor in Yagnam in 2004, followed by successful action films such as Andhrudu, Ranam, Lakshyam, Souryam, Sankham, and Golimaar.
