Early Life And Education

Alexis Bledel was born on September 16, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She was raised by her parents, Martín Bledel and Nanette (née Dozier), employed as flight attendants and gift processors. Eric is her younger brother.

Her father is from Argentina, and her mother was born in Phoenix, Arizona. When she was eight years old, her family returned to Mexico. Following her high school graduation, Bledel attended Lutheran and Baptist schools until earning her diploma from Houston’s Catholic St. Agnes Academy in 1999. Bledel studied film at New York University as she followed her artistic passions.

Career

Alexis Bledel started her career In the comedy-drama Gilmore Girls on The WB, Bledel debuted on television in 2000 opposite Lauren Graham. The show aired seven seasons, from October 5, 2000, to May 15, 2007. She portrayed Rory Gilmore, a single mother’s daughter of Lorelai Gilmore (Graham).

Before moving on to college at Yale University, where she served as the editor of the Yale Daily News among other things, Rory was a high school student at an elite private academy. She also lived with her mother in a small Connecticut town.

Bledel made her Tribeca Film Festival debut in the romantic comedy The Good Guy On April 26, 2009, co-starring with Scott Porter and Bryan Greenberg. The movie’s main focus is Porter’s Wall Street investment broker, Tommy, whose life falls apart when he assists Greenberg’s character, Daniel, a rookie broker. 

Bledel portrayed Tommy’s girlfriend, Beth. As Dr. Julia Wise, a new hospital intern, Bledel appeared in the two-hour “And in the End…” series finale of the NBC medical drama ER in April 2009. Bledel signed a deal with IMG’s modeling division in May 2009.

Bledel’s involvement in the Gilmore Girls resurrection was confirmed when Netflix announced on January 29, 2016, that it would consist of four 90-minute films centered around the show’s four seasons.

She made her Hulu debut in 2017 as Ofglen, who would later go by Emily Malek, in The Handmaid’s Tale; for the second season, her part was extended to a regular one. 

After receiving high praise for her work, Bledel was nominated for her first Emmy Award. She took home the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series trophy at the 2017 Creative Arts presentation. After the fourth season, she left.

From December 2002 to June 2006, Bledel and fellow former Gilmore Girls co-star Milo Ventimiglia were romantically involved. Bledel started dating Vincent Kartheiser in 2012. During her stint as a guest star on Mad Men, Bledel’s character, Beth Dawes, exchanged scenes with Kartheiser’s character, Pete Campbell.

The couple wed in California in June 2014 after announcing their engagement in March 2013. In the autumn of 2015, Bledel gave birth to their son. Kartheiser filed for divorce from Bledel on August 10, but his name is unknown due to personal issues. 2022; the divorce was finalized on August 30.
