Alicja Bachleda-Curuś was born on May 12, 1983, in Tampico, Mexico, where her father, geologist Tadeusz Bachleda-Curuś, was working at the time. Her mother is Lidia Bachleda-Curuś.
The family returned to Poland, and Alicja spent most of her childhood in Kraków. She has an older brother, Tadeusz, and a half-sister, Urszula Welenc.
