Leslie Barbara Carter was born on June 6, 1986, in Tampa, Florida. She was the third of Robert Gene Carter and Jane Elizabeth Carter’s five children.
Her younger siblings included singer Aaron Carter and his twin sister Angel, while Nick Carter and Bobbie Jean Carter were her older siblings.
Leslie grew up in a family heavily involved in entertainment. Her brothers Nick and Aaron became successful singers, while Leslie developed her own interest in music.

Leslie and Mike had one daughter, Alyssa Jane Ashton, who was born in April 2011. Leslie died approximately 10 months after giving birth to her daughter. Her death was ruled an accidental prescription drug overdose.
