Early life and education
Atsuko Okatsuka was born on May 27, 1988, in Taiwan to a Taiwanese mother and a Japanese father. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she spent part of her childhood in Japan, living primarily around Chiba.
At the age of eight, her grandmother took her and her mother to Los Angeles, initially presenting the trip as a short vacation.
They ultimately remained in the United States, where Okatsuka lived undocumented for about seven years and was largely raised by her grandmother.

Okatsuka began performing comedy in the late 2000s and gradually developed a distinctive style based on physical comedy, storytelling and deliberately eccentric observations.
