Julie Estelle Gasnier was born on 4 January 1989 in Jakarta, Indonesia, to an Indonesian mother, Hilda Limbara, and a French-American father, Thiery Gasnier. She is the second of three daughters, with her elder sister, Cathy Sharon, also being a well-known actress and television host in Indonesia.

She graduated from Lycée International Français de Jakarta in 2007, majoring in Business. She is of French, Manado, and Chinese descent, and her religion is not publicly known.
