Years later, Gavin portrayed Dunbar in The Arbor, a film that was partly filmed on the same street.
She attended Buttershaw High School before studying at Leeds Intake Performing Arts College. She then enrolled at the University of Huddersfield, where she earned a BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre Studies and received an Outstanding Achievement Award.

Alongside screen acting, Gavin has maintained a strong theatre career. Her stage credits include The Crucible, Pygmalion and There Are No Beginnings.
