 Noele Gordon, a British actress, was born on December 25, 1919, in East Ham, Essex, England. Her parents were James Gordon, a Scottish engineer in the Merchant Navy, and Joan, who worked as a housewife.

 As she was born on Christmas Day, Noele was given the middle name of Noele. Unfortunately, there is no available information regarding her siblings. However, she did attend the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to hone her acting skills further.


 Gordon’s acting journey commenced in the 1940s when she starred in various movies, including The Lisbon Story (1946) and The Most Likely Girl (1957). Additionally, she ventured into television presenting and hosted shows like Tea With Noele Gordon (1955-1958) and The Weekend Show (1955-1958).

After being chosen to portray Meg Mortimer in Crossroads, a British soap opera in an English Midlands motel, Gordon’s fame soared with the show’s immediate triumph in 1964. 

Her endearing and nurturing demeanor made her widely beloved, and she soon emerged as one of the United Kingdom’s most cherished actresses. The character she portrayed, Meg, was an inspiration and guiding figure for numerous women.

 Gordon’s portrayal of Meg Mortimer on the soap opera made her one of the longest-serving actors in British history, spanning 17 years. Additionally, she became highly sought-after and was among the highest-paid television actresses. 

Unfortunately 1981, ATV Midlands abruptly dismissed her from the show without providing a reason. This unfair treatment sparked anger among fans of Crossroads and prompted them to boycott the program.

Gordon made a short visit to Crossroads in 1983. However, she departed once more the next year. Sadly, at the age of 65, she passed away in 1985 due to stomach cancer.
