Early Life

Nomzamo Mbatha was born on 13th July 1999 in KwaMashu Township, she is of the Zulu ethnicity.

At a tender age, she was a model at beauty pageants although her late father was not in full support of it.

Her father is the late Skuta Nxumala and her mother, MonaKutu Mbatha is a teacher.

In 2009, she lost her elder sister to death and sadly in 2014, her younger sister committed suicide.

Her only surviving sister is Wendy Mbatha while her brother Zamani Mbatha is an actor and popular figure.

Education

Nomzamo Mbatha attended Rippon Primary School in Durban and Bachet High School where she obtained her High School Diploma.

She studied accounting at the University of Cape Town and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2018.

Career

Nomzamo Mbatha was brought to the spotlight in 2012 after she emerged as one of the top three finalists in the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search.

In 2012, she was cast to play the role of Thandeke in Isibaya. Her well-played roles made her one of South Africa’s most popular actresses. Her role in the show lasted for seven seasons until her character was killed. Her final appearance in the show was in March 2020.

She hosted Holiday Swap, a reality travel show on SABC, while later in 2015, Nomzamo Mbatha was chosen to represent Neutrogena. This role earned her the record as the first South African to occupy such a position.

Nomzamo Mbatha has also been involved in humanitarian projects and charity works in Africa. In 2017 she was appointed as a high-profile supporter of the LuQuLuQu campaign, this led to her being chosen as a Goodwill Ambassador at the United Nations Refugee Agency in 2019.

Nomzamo is the funder of a non-profit organization, Nomzamo Lighthouse which is an organization for supporting child-headed homes, marginalized youths, and senior citizens.

In 2020, she signed with a talent management agency by the name, Creative Artists Agency. In 2021 she was featured in a blockbuster movie – Coming 2 America.
