Pom Alexandra Klementieff (born 3 May 1986), addressed as Pom Klementieff, is a talented French model, TV personality, and actress.

She began acting at a young age, appearing in commercials and short films. She made a remarkable debut In the Marvel Cinematic Universe films titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Pom Klementieff is also scheduled to replay her role as Mantis in Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will be released in 2023.

Early Life & Education

Pom Klementieff was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, on the 3rd of May 1986. She was born to a Korean mother and a Russian-French father named Alexis Klementieff, who worked for the French government as a consul. 

Because jus soli does not apply to offspring of diplomats, she is a French citizen who does not have Canadian citizenship. Her ethnicity can only be traced to France. Eugene Klementieff, a Russian painter, was her grandfather. Her parents picked the name “Pom” because it is pronounced similarly to the Korean words “spring” and “tiger”. 

Pom Klementieff lived in Canada for a year before her father’s business required the family to travel constantly. Before arriving in France, they resided in Japan and the Ivory Coast.

After her father died of cancer when she was five years old, and her mother developed schizophrenia and could not care for children, Pom Klementieff was raised by her paternal uncle and aunt. 

Her older brother committed suicide on her 25th birthday, and her uncle, whom she described as “like her second father,” died on her 18th birthday.

Career

Pom Klementieff‘s first professional acting role was in the French indie film titled ”Après Lui,” and the film premiered in 2007, in which she played the stepdaughter role of Catherine Deneuve‘s heroine. Her scenes took three days to film. She was supposed to force someone down a flight of stairs in one scene, but she tumbled down the stairs herself, and Gaël Morel, the film director, kept the shot in the final cut.

Loup premiered in 2009, is a French film about a tribe of reindeer herders in the Siberian mountains, was where she got her first lead role. 

Pom Klementieff remained in a camp, hours from the next hamlet when temperatures were considerably below zero while filming. She befriended local nomads, worked with real wolves, rode reindeer, and swam with a horse in a lake while filming.

Spike Lee’s Oldboy (a 2013 film), an adaptation of a South Korean film, was where Pom Klementieff made her first Hollywood debut. She played the role of Haeng-bok, the antagonist’s bodyguard, which was played by Sharlto Copley.
