Isaac Ezban was born on 15 April 1986 in Mexico City, Mexico, into a Jewish family established in the country for more than three generations.
He was raised in Mexico City and developed an early interest in storytelling under the guidance of his grandmother.
He studied Communication with a major in film at the Universidad Iberoamericana, drama at The Method Studio in London, and filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
Before entering the industry full-time, he wrote four short novels. He is of Jewish ethnicity and his religion is Judaism.
Career
Isaac Ezban began his career directing short films, many of which received festival awards, and co-founded the production company Red Elephant Films as well as Autocinema Coyote, the largest drive-in theater chain in Latin America.
His feature debut, The Incident (2014), a psychological science-fiction thriller, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and screened at more than 50 festivals, earning 16 awards and praise from Guillermo del Toro.
He followed with The Similars (2015), which premiered at Fantastic Fest and Sitges and won Best Latin American Film at Sitges.
Subsequent features include the English-language Parallel, Evil Eye (2022), and Párvulos (2024).
He continues to work as a director, screenwriter, and producer specializing in genre cinema.
