During his years at the film academy, he developed several short films and gained experience in writing, directing, and production.

His early projects included Breakfast, Down, Der Fremde und der Affe, Schwarze Erdbeeren, Hochhaus, and Der Großvater.
These films screened at international festivals, and Hochhaus won several awards, including Best Short Film at the Münster Film Festival.
His experience with short filmmaking prepared him for his first feature project, Der Bunker. Chryssos served as the film’s director, writer, and producer, giving him substantial creative control.
The film premiered at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival as part of Perspektive Deutsches Kino before receiving a theatrical release in Germany in 2016.
Der Bunker became the project that brought Chryssos to wider international attention. The film uses dark comedy, surrealism, and psychological unease to tell its unusual story, and its unconventional approach earned strong festival recognition.

He later expanded into television, directing for the long-running German crime franchise Tatort.
