Leila’s Brothers (2022) then entered the Cannes Competition and won the FIPRESCI Prize and the Citizenship Prize. In 2023, Roustayi was sentenced in Iran after the film was screened at Cannes without government authorization.
In 2025, he returned to Cannes Competition with Woman and Child, a drama starring Soheila Golestani and Payman Maadi. The film became his fourth feature and his latest completed feature as of 2026.
