Troy Duffy was born on 8 June 1971 in Hartford, Connecticut, to Robert Duffy a Harvard-educated English teacher, and Mrs. Duffy. He was one of five children and has a brother named Taylor Duffy.

The family later settled in the Exeter and Kensington areas of New Hampshire, where Duffy spent much of his youth. He graduated from Exeter High School and attended Colorado State University for two years before dropping out.

With financial support from his father, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue music and writing. He is of American origin, and his religion is Christianity.

Career

Troy Duffy initially pursued a music career after relocating to Los Angeles in the early 1990s, forming a rock band called The Brood with his brother Taylor.
