Joshua Karpeh, also known as Cautious Clay, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 30, 1993. At 7, he began playing the flute after watching the Disney movie Aladdin. In high school, he also played the saxophone and the guitar, and in college, he started teaching himself how to make music.
