Chester Charles Bennington (born 20 March 1976), addressed as Chester Bennington, was a renowned singer, actor, and songwriter from the United States. He was one of the lead singers for the renowned rock group Linkin Park. His distinctive high-pitched voice, which mesmerized many Linkin Park fans, is what people most often recall about him. 

He was made all the more unique because he had attained greatness despite enduring countless hardships and tribulations in his early years. Chester Bennington‘s early years were anything but idyllic. When he was very young, his parents divorced, and he experienced sexual assault. 

He worked multiple jobs as a teenager to pay for his drugs while also using drugs as a coping mechanism for emotional distress. He was a shy, lonesome kid who barely had any friends. Because of this loneliness, he ultimately began to feed his love of music and soon joined the group Sean Dowdell and His Friends?

Later, Chester Bennington became a member of the group Grey Daze. His musical career took off once he passed the audition to join the band, Linkin Park. He was famous for the band’s Hybrid Theory debut album’s phenomenal success.

Early Life & Education

On March 20, 1976, Chester Bennington was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States. His mother, Susan Elaine Johnson, was a nurse, while his father, Lee Russell Bennington, was a police investigator. He has a brother named Brian Bennington

He attended Ironwood High School for his fundamental education. As a young boy, he first developed a drug addiction and began abusing marijuana, alcohol, opium, cocaine, methamphetamine, and LSD. 

Chester Bennington went away with his mother at the age of 17. She caught him doing narcotics during this period, and he was prohibited from leaving the house after that. Later, he began working part-time at a Burger King restaurant to support himself. 

Career

Chester Bennington joined his first band, Sean Dowdell and His Friends, a grunge music group, in 1993. The group released a three-track cassette during that year. Later in 1993, he became a member of the group Grey Daze, which had singles including Wake Me, Demo in, and No Sun Today.

He wasn’t content to be a band member, though, because he wasn’t given proper recognition. He thus quit the group in 1998. Later, he became a member of Linkin Park, and the group’s self-titled first album, Hybrid Theory, was published in 2000 with his vocals on it. 

The record was a huge hit and was considered a blockbuster. It debuted on the US Billboard charts and quickly became the year’s best-selling record. Chester Bennington contributed vocals to Linkin Park‘s 2003 album Meteora, which Warner Bros. Records distributed. The popular song Numb was on the album. The album gained widespread acclaim and peaked at the top of the charts in the US and UK. As soon as it was released, it peaked at number two in Australia. Chester Bennington founded the rock group Dead by Sunrise in 2005. 

He asserted that some of his songs did not fit with the sound of Linkin Park; therefore, he made Dead by Sunrise include such tunes. He portrayed a pharmacy customer in the American action movie Crank in 2006. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor shared directing duties for the movie.

Minutes to Midnight, Chester Bennington‘s third album, was published in 2007. It became one of his most successful albums by selling over 600,000 copies in its first week and reaching the top spot on the Billboard charts. He released Out of Ashes, Dead by Sunrise‘s debut album, on October 13, 2009. The album had a mediocre level of success. 

He contributed vocals to Linkin Park‘s fourth album, A Thousand Suns, which was released in 2010. This multi-concept album focused on the idea of nuclear warfare. Chester Bennington made a cameo appearance in the Kevin Greutert-helmed 3D horror movie Saw 3D in October 2010. 

The movie did poorly with the critics, yet it did well at the box office. Chester Bennington performed as the lead vocalist on Living Things, one of Linkin Park‘s best-selling albums from the year 2012, which featured the band. Burn It Down, the album’s main hit, was featured.

While in a relationship with Elka BrandChester Bennington has a child named Jaime Bennington. Later, he took in Isaiah Bennington, Elka Brand‘s son. 

Chester Bennington got married to Samantha Bennington in 1996. A kid was born to the couple, who named him Draven Sebastian Bennington. In 2005, they divorced. 

He married Talinda Bennington, a former Playboy model, after divorcing Samantha Bennington. Three kids, Tyler Lee Bennington, Lily Bennington, and Lila Bennington, were born to the couple. 

Chester Bennington was discovered dead in his home on July 20, 2017. He had killed himself by hanging. He was said to have been devastated by his pal Chris Cornell‘s passing. He killed himself on the day Chris Cornell would have been 53.
