Tamia Monique Carter (born January 9, 2000), addressed as Flo Milli, is a versatile American rapper and songwriter. She became well-known after her songs Beef FloMix and In the Party gained popularity.

The widespread of the songs radicalized on the social media site TikTok and were subsequently awarded gold records by the Recording Industry Association of America. She then agreed to a recording contract with RCA Records.

You are Still Here, Ho? Flo Milli‘s debut mixtape was well received by critics when it was released in 2020. The mixtape was given a spot on the Billboard 200 and listed by Rolling Stone as one of the 200 Greatest Hip Hop Albums of All Time in 2022. The 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards have nominated her for Best New Artist. She released her album in July 2022, titled You Still Here, Ho?

Early Life

On January 9, 2000, Flo Milli was born in Mobile, Alabama, United States, where she was also raised. 

Her mother’s name is Monique Danielle. She was given the real name Tamia Monique Carter.

At 11, she started rapping and formed the rap group Real & Beautiful, later known as Pink Mafia, which she disbanded at 14. 

Flo Milli wrote her first song when she was nine years old. 

Career

The original version of Flo Milli‘s hit song, Beef FloMix, a freestyle recorded over the instrumental to Beef by Playboi Carti and Ethereal, was released in October 2018. It gained popularity on Instagram and other social media platforms, such as TikTok, and in April 2019, it ranked second on Spotify’s Viral 50. 

In July 2019, a fully produced version of the song was released, and it has already achieved over 46 million Spotify streams. In the Party, Flo Milli‘s second single was released in October 2019.

In December 2019, she performed at Rolling Loud Los Angeles. She joined RCA Records at the year’s end. She released the song My Attitude in February 2020. 

In March and April of 2020, respectively, she released the singles Not Friendly and Eat It Up. The song Like That Bitch, was produced by J. White Did It and was released by Flo Milli in June 2020. A music video for the song and another single, Weak, were released in July 2020. Ho, Why Are You Here? Flo Milli‘s debut mixtape was released on July 24, 2020, to positive reviews. 

On August 10, 2020, news broke that Pulse Music Group and Flo Milli had agreed to an exclusive global co-publishing agreement. According to the business, the agreement covers her entire inventory and is a highly competitive signing.

In August 2020, Saygrace, a singer, included Flo Milli in the remix of her song, Boys Ain’t Shit. In September 2020, she had an appearance in the music video for G-Eazy song, Down, which also features Latto. 

Flo Milli was a Best New Artist nominee at the September 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards. 

The single Roaring 20s by Flo Milli was released in January 2021. She was a member of the XXL Freshman Class of 2021 in June 2021. At the BET Awards 2021, she was a Best New Artist nominee.
