Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa (born August 22, 1993), who is widely known by the stage name, Rayvanny is an A-list Tanzanian singer and songwriter.

He is currently signed to the WCB Wasafi record label.

Early Life

Rayvanny was born to the Tanzanian family of Mr and Mrs Mwakyusa on the 22nd Of August 1993. He was birthed in the Mbeya region of Tanzania.

He discovered his passion for music while he was still in high school. He decided to heed the call of his passion and started pursuing it actively. The turning moment for him was when he won a rap freestyle competition. This win validated the fact that he could make it as a musician.

Rayvanny began attending music events in his city, performing at shows and becoming acquainted with other musicians. During this period, he met a group of budding musicians and decided to join their group named Tip Top Connection. His time with the group helped to brush up his singing and songwriting skills.

Career

Rayvanny made a big career move in 2015 by joining the music label, WCB Wasafi Records. The record label, which is owned and managed by Diamond Platinumz, is one of the biggest in the country.

In 2016, he released his debut single under the label titled Kwetu. The song shot him into the limelight, and it was a hit in the whole East Africa region.

Due to the single’s success, Rayvanny was nominated for the Breakthrough Act award at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards. The following year Rayvanny earned more wins and was nominated for several awards, such as Best New Talent at the AEUSA Awards, Best African Act for Uganda Entertainment Awards, and International Viewer’s Choice at the BET Award.

Four years later, Rayvanny founded the record label, Next Level Music.
