Early Life and Education

Anton Zaslavski was born on September 2, 1989, in Saratov, USSR, to a musical family—his father Igor is a guitarist and schoolteacher, while his mother is a classically trained piano teacher.

The family moved to Kaiserslautern, Germany, when Anton was three years old after the fall of the Soviet Union. He started playing piano at age four and drums at twelve, showing prodigious talent early on.

He has an older brother, Arkadi, and a younger half-brother, Daniel. As a teenager he joined the German deathcore band Dioramic as their drummer, touring and recording two albums with them before shifting fully to electronic production. No formal university education has been publicly documented.

Anton Zaslavski began producing electronic music in 2002, initially inspired by French duo Daft Punk. After leaving Dioramic in 2010, he started releasing house and electro-house tracks under the name Zedd.
