Early Life & Education

Teezee, a remarkably gifted artist, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on June 27, 1990. Embracing a unique blend of English and Nigerian heritage, Teezee’s formative years involved navigating the bustling streets of London, England, and his hometown in Lagos. 

Teezee‘s loving and supportive upbringing was provided by his father, Teni Zaccheaus Sr., and his mother, Yewande Zaccheaus, along with his sister, Ireti Zaccheaus.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Teezee exhibited a fervent passion for soccer from a young age. Nurturing this love for the sport, he attended the prestigious Manchester United Soccer school (Manchester Academy) to enhance his skills on the field. These diverse experiences undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Teezee into the remarkable individual he is today.

Career

In 2007, Teezee joined the group DRB LasGidi alongside his school friends BOJ and Fresh L. Initially using the name Teniola Zacchaeus, he is now commonly known as the Fresh Prince of LasGidi, a moniker derived from his debut studio album titled Fresh Prince of LasGidi.

Considered one of Nigeria’s early pioneers of self-publishing musicians, Teezee, BOJ, and Fresh L leveraged online platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud in 2013 to share their music.

Appointed by Yewande Zaccheaus, the CEO of Eventful, Teezee took on roles as the marketing executive and creative consultant for both Eventful and Harbour Point Event Centre in Lagos on March 3, 2020. 

Teezee appeared on Skepta‘s EP All In with the track Peace of Mind, featuring American rapper Kid Cudi on July 30, 2021. Following this, Teezee released BADI, featuring Davido, as the lead single from his debut studio album, Arrested by Love, on November 11, 2021. The music video for BADI drew inspiration from ’00s Nollywood classics.

The second lead single for Arrested by Love, titled NEW GOVERNMENT, featuring Prettyboy D-O and Kofi Mole, was released on December 17, 2021. Teezee continued the album’s promotion by releasing the third single, NOK’D, featuring Deto Black, along with a music video directed by Chukwuka Nwobi and Sanjo Omosa on February 4, 2022.

Teezee, a talented artist, released his first solo studio album, Arrested by Love, on February 18, 2022. The album featured guest appearances from popular artists such as Davido, Prettyboy D-O, Kofi Mole, and more. Jameson Irish Whiskey introduced a limited-edition bottle to celebrate the album’s success on September 9, 2022. Furthermore, Teezee showcased his production skills by co-producing Odumodublvck‘s fifth mixtape studio album, EZIOKWU, which was released on October 6, 2023.

In 2016, Teezee and Seni Saraki founded The Native, a music magazine under NATIVE Networks, aiming to promote the alté craft. On September 20, 2022, Teezee, Chubbziano, also known as SChubbz (Shane Chubbz), and Sholz established NATIVE Records in collaboration with Def Jam Recordings. 

Focusing on discovering and nurturing talented artists from Africa and its diaspora, NATIVE Records proudly announced the signing of their first artist, Odumodublvck, on November 23, 2022. Teezee‘s solo career continued to ascend with the release of his debut single, Manhattan, on December 8, 2022, featuring Cruel Santino and produced by GMK.
