Stephanie Young Hwang was born on August 1, 1989, in San Francisco, California, to Janie Wilson and James Robert Darwish, who separated when she was just 14 months old.

Her mother later married Dan Williams in 1977, making him Tiffany’s stepfather. Tiffany has several siblings- half-sisters and brothers- including Michelle Hwang and Leo Hwang.
