Early Life

The band was formed in 2015 by several Les Big Byrd, Pig Eyes, Nine, Nitad, and Neu-Ronz members. The group’s lead singer, Sebastian Murphy, is the only American-born member.

 He was raised in San Francisco before moving to Sweden at 17 to live with his aunt in Stockholm. Murphy, a former drug and alcohol addict, worked as a tattoo artist and met the band while singing Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” at karaoke.

Career

In 2018, the Viagra Boys released their debut album, Street Worms. The album received positive reviews from critics and earned the band the Independent Music Companies Association’s (IMPALA) Album of the Year Award. 

The band released a four-song EP titled Common Sense in 2020. Welfare Jazz, their second album, was released in January 2021.

Benjamin Vallé, the band’s founding guitarist, died in October 2021 at 47. While he was a member of Welfare Jazz, he was not an active member at the time of his death.

The renowned band Viagra Boys had the incredible opportunity to perform at various prestigious festivals, such as Coachella and Primavera Sound, in 2022.

 These events allowed the band to showcase their distinct musical talents and captivate audiences worldwide. In addition, the band excitedly released their highly anticipated third album, Cave World, in July of that same year. This album undoubtedly cemented their position as a significant force in the music industry.

Personal Life
