Early Life & Education

Born on June 27, 1994, in Kampala, Uganda, Vinka‘s early years were predominantly spent in Kazo under the care of her father, Mr. Luggya. However, a pivotal moment in primary 5 led to a significant change as she relocated to Bweyogerere to live with her mother, Mrs. Luggya. This transition marked a transformative period in Vinka‘s life, leaving a lasting impact on her upbringing.

Embarking on her educational odyssey at Hormisdalen Primary School in Kamwokya, Vinka received a private education that laid the foundation for her academic pursuits. Transitioning to Lubaga Girls School for her O and A-level studies, Vinka‘s dedication and hard work paved the way for her acceptance into Makerere University. 

She pursued a bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality there, graduating with honours in 2017. Vinka emerged from this academic journey with flying colours, holding a degree in her chosen field.

Career

In 2013, Vinka began her musical journey by signing with Swangz Avenue, a prominent Ugandan record company. Despite this early connection, her decision to fully embrace a recording artist career materialized in 2016. The turning point came in 2017 with the release of her debut single, Level, an instant commercial hit that firmly established her as a rising star in Uganda’s dynamic music landscape.

Building on the success of Level, Vinka continued to delight audiences with subsequent popular singles like Stylo, Malaika, and Chips na Ketchup. Her musical prowess reached international heights in 2019 when she collaborated with Romanian singer Inna on the hit song Bebe.

Aviva Witta, their daughter, marks Vinka‘s first child with her husband, Nelson Witta. The couple exchanged vows in December 2020, with a discreet kukyala ceremony held at Vinka‘s parents’ home in Nsangi.
