Early Life

Walt Disco is a six-man music band based in the United Kingdom. The group was formed over five years ago by James, Dave, Finlay, Mashu, Lewis, and Calcum.

Their paths had crossed at the University Of Glasgow. The surprising thing is that three of them were from the same home city – Perth. The squad met at a fresher’s party, where they began fraternizing with each other.

Discovering that each of them had a knack for music, they decided to form a band. They officially became a music group in September 2016. One thing that attracted them to one another was that they had a love for 80s Scottish Punk music.

Their first gig was at an event organized by the student union government of their university, where they thrilled fans with their delightful sound. They also competed in a show against other bands and emerged the winner.

This was the starting point of their musical journey and they began to receive invitations to perform at several events in the university. Their good fortune spread beyond their college’s walls and they started performing alongside other Pop bigwigs in Glasgow, Aberdeen, and other cities in Scotland.

James Potter is the lead vocalist of the group while Lewis Carmichael and Dave Morgan are the guitarists. Calcum Kennedy plays the drums. As a vocalist, James is assisted by Mashu Harada who has a unique but exciting voice and can play multiple instruments.

Education

Each member of the Walt Disco musical group completed their elementary, middle, and high school education in top schools in Scotland.

They passed out of their high school with flying colors, having scored good grades in their A’levels exams.

Career

Having come to the conclusion that they had a bright future in the music industry, they decided to drop out of college to pursue a professional music career. Free from the burden of academic work, they were able to put more work into their craft and practiced for long hours every week.

The universe didn’t overlook their hard work and they soon start receiving gigs that took them out of their home country, Scotland. They have performed in major UK cities like London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Dublin.

In 2019, they toured the United Kingdom with the Sports Team, performing at local clubs and event centers, and giving pop music lovers a taste of their energetic and mind-blowing music. Whatever city or town they performed at, they ended up winning many fans to themselves.

They were opportune to play at Camden’s Electric Ballroom in 2019 where they delivered an electrifying performance that didn’t go unnoticed by music journalists. Soon enough, they were interviewed by a couple of entertainment and lifestyle magazines in the UK.

Leveraging on their strengths and weaknesses the group worked for months on their debut project. Fans had been requesting that the band give them something they could play non-stop in their homes, cars, bars, and clubs. Walt Disco didn’t keep their fans waiting for long and released the EP, Young, Hard and Handsome in 2020. The EP is a 7-track project featuring hit songs like Hey Boy (You Are One Of Us), Dancing Shoes, and Heather.

Though it’s been only a few months since its release, the EP has amassed enormous success with millions of streams in the UK, the US, and other European countries. Just like the band has always dreamed of, their songs are currently being played in radio stations and clubs all around the UK. Heralded as the new princes of pop music, the band fuses the 80s Pop Punk sound with modern-day sound when creating their music. This uniqueness in sound is the reason they have been billed to tour Spain in 2021.
