Chase Duddy (producer, drummer, songwriter) and Paige Duddy (sister) make up the electro-pop duo XYL (vocalist, songwriter). Their grandfather was a well-known jazz drummer, studio percussionist, and chair of the drum department at the Los Angeles College of Music.

Early Life

Both of his grandchildren went to college after following in his musical footsteps. Despite their ten-year age difference, the siblings connected through music and began work on their debut single in 2014.

Career

The duo released the single “America” in 2015, which drew comparisons to Lana Del Ray and Lorde. It gained attention when featured in a PacSun commercial starring Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The exposure helped the track amass over 1.6 million listens on SoundCloud and reach the number-one spot on Hypemachine.

In the same year, they also released “Afterlife” and performed their first headline show in Los Angeles as part of the Oh Wonder tour. They signed with Sony Music Entertainment. In early 2016, XYLØ announced their plans to release their first EP, including all their previously released singles. The ” America ” EP was released in February, followed by an American tour to support it.

They also released a song called “Fool’s Paradise,” expressing their opposition to Donald Trump. Later, in 2016, they were featured on the Chainsmokers’ single “Setting Fires” from their College EP.

The following year, they released the singles “I Still Wait for You” and “Alive.” In 2018, they released several more singles, including “Heaven Only Knows” and “Tears & Tantrums.” Their catchy track “Nothing Left to Say” came out in early 2019.
