Ed Solomon came into the world on 15 September 1960 in Saratoga, California. He spent part of his childhood in suburban Boston before his family relocated to California.

Solomon was raised by his parents, Mr. Solomon and Maxine Solomon, while reliable details about his siblings are not established. His interest in comedy and writing appeared early; by the age of eight, he was already submitting comedy ideas to television.

Building on that success, Solomon wrote or co-wrote major productions including Men in Black, Charlie’s Angels, What Planet Are You From?, The In-Laws, Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2.

He made his feature directing debut with Levity in 2003 and later reunited with the Bill & Ted team for Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020). His collaborations with Steven Soderbergh also produced Mosaic, No Sudden Move and Full Circle, further demonstrating his range beyond comedy.
