Rhett Reese began his screenwriting career with contributions to animated features, including additional story material for Dinosaur (2000) and Monsters, Inc. (2001), as well as writing Clifford’s Really Big Movie (2004) and Cruel Intentions 3 (2004).
He reconnected with high-school acquaintance Paul Wernick, and together they created the reality series The Joe Schmo Show, which became a notable success for Spike TV, followed by Invasion Iowa.
Their first major feature collaboration was Zombieland (2009), a critical and commercial hit that they also executive-produced. The pair continued with G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013).
Their most prominent work came with the Deadpool franchise, co-writing Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), which helped redefine R-rated superhero films.
