The well-known television personality, Skhumba Hlophe comes from humble beginnings.

Skhumba Hlophe, also known as Big Banger, grew up in the Tembisa neighbourhood of Johannesburg, South Africa.

He was born on December 31 and grew up with his grandmother, Leria Hlophe. The comedian from Johannesburg had always aspired to be a lawyer.

His fantasies of donning a black robe and a white wig came to an end far sooner than he anticipated.

It came after he claimed he wasn’t “quite the smartest kid on the street.” although this was not the only reason.

Skhumba Hlophe is an actor, comedian, and radio host. After being cast as Bheki Zulu (lead part) in Thandeka’s Diary, he shot to fame in the film industry. In the South African broadcasting corporation sitcom, the character is Thandeka‘s overbearing mechanic father.

After his outstanding performance in the series Taxi Rides, a feature film, and its spin-off, he acquired even more fame as Dlamini. He was one of the Young Gunz of Nubreed Comedy who performed at the Soweto Comedy Festival in 2010.

In 2016, he appeared as a guest star in season three of the SABC1 sitcom Ses’Top La. In addition, he made a guest appearance on an episode of Zaziwa on June 30, the same year.

In 2010, he got the invitation to play at Monwabisi Grootboom’s Port Elizabeth comedy show, which is 99 per cent Xhosa. He received a standing ovation for making everyone laugh. It was the start of a successful comic career for him.

Skhumba Hlophe was one of the Young Gunz of Nubreed Comedy at the Soweto Comedy Festival in 2012.

He performed as a featured comedian in the first edition of the Stand Up Zulu festival the prior year, in 2011. The event took place in Durban, South Africa, at the Playhouse.

More possibilities flooded in, and he earned a gig as a contributor on SABC1’s Mzansi Insider. He got a part as an actor the same year when he appeared as a guest actor on Zaziwa.
