Innocent Chukwuma, a Nigerian native, was born on October 1, 1961, in Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State. The youngest of six siblings in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Chukwuma Mojekwu, he hails from a close-knit background. One of his brothers is named Charles Chukwuma.

His educational journey commenced at St. Stephen’s Primary School in Uru-Umudim, where Chukwuma completed his elementary education. He continued his academic pursuit at Holy Ghost College in Umuahia for his secondary studies, demonstrating a persistent commitment to knowledge. 

Despite facing a setback in his attempt to gain admission to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, due to falling short of the required cut-off mark, Innocent Chukwuma remained undeterred in his pursuit of higher education.

Career

Innocent Chukwuma ventured into the prosperous spare parts industry in southeast Nigeria before establishing the Innoson Group. The conglomerate comprises Innoson Manufacturing and Innoson Tech. & Industries Co. Ltd. 

In 2007, Chukwuma introduced Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, initially focusing on bicycles and tricycles. Over time, the business expanded to include auto assembly, making Innoson automobiles widely accessible across Africa, extending beyond Nigeria.

A recipient of numerous awards, Innocent Chukwuma has garnered acclaim throughout his career. In 2013, he was honored as Nigeria’s Businessman of the Year, recognizing his exceptional achievements in business.
