Under Leininger’s leadership, Kinetic Concepts expanded its product range and became particularly prominent in wound care and therapeutic support systems.
He served as chairman from 1976 to 1997 and later as president and chief executive officer from 1990 to 1994, eventually becoming chairman emeritus.
In 2011, KCI agreed to a multibillion-dollar acquisition led by Apax Partners and other investors, with Leininger and affiliated shareholders retaining a significant stake at the time of the transaction.
