Early Life & Education

On March 25, 1981, in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, United States, Barry Neistat and Amy Neistat gave birth to their son Casey Neistat. He was born in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. He has two brothers: Van Neistat and Dean Neistat, and a sister named Jordan Neistat.

He grew up in a Reform Jewish household. In his second year of high school, at the age of 17, he dropped out. At age 17, Casey Neistat had a baby named Owen Neistat with his then-girlfriend Robin Harris after eventually abandoning his family. 

He resided at a trailer park with Robin Harris and Owen Neistat from when he was 17 until he was 20 (from 1998 to 2001). Casey Neistat decided to go to New York City at this point. He worked as a short-order cook in Mystic, Connecticut, then as a dishwasher in a seafood restaurant before relocating to New York City.

Career

In February 2010, Casey Neistat launched his own YouTube channel. The emergency brake cables on the train cars were the subject of his very first post. He later published a 6-minute clip about the website Chatroulette. 

The New York City Police Department was condemned for giving penalties to cyclists in the city in a video he recorded as a result. He began posting daily vlogs in March 2015. The Vice President Outer Space & the Baby was the title of a video blog he published in May 2015. On the empty streets of New York City in January of the next year, 2016, he and his buddies made a video. 

The video titled Snowboarding with the NYPD shows Casey Neistat being dragged along the pavement by two men. This two minutes and 41 minutes video went viral. The YouTuber later shared a vlog on his first-class Emirates airline experience in September 2016. Again, the public watched this video intently. 

As his vlog journey continued, Casey Neistat‘s subscriber count swiftly increased to a few million. His follower base had topped 7 million by April 2017, making him highly popular on the social media platform.

Success as a Filmmaker 

Alongside Tom Sachs, Casey Neistat and his brother Van Neistat started making short films in 2001. In 2003, he gained widespread fame for his three-minute film iPod’s Dirty Secret, in which he criticized Apple for not having a suitable battery replacement plan for their product. 

This movie debuted online on September 20, 2003, and garnered media interest and helped spread awareness of Apple’s replacement policy for iPod batteries. The next year, Casey Neistat produced a collection of short movies titled Science Experiments that featured various experiments. When it became well-known, the 59th Minute episode of Creative Time included this work.

Later, Casey Neistat collaborated with his brother Van Neistat and friends Tom Scott and Mason Daugherty to create the eight-episode television series The Neistat Brothers, which HBO eventually bought in 2008.
