Angus Buchan‘s parents were immigrants from Scotland in Zimbabwe, where he was born.

His birthplace precisely is Bulawayo Southern Rhodesia, now modern Zimbabwe.

Angus Buchan started as a farmer in Zambia. His major crops at that time were maize, and at the same time, he was a cattle rearer.

In 1976, he decided to shift his farmland to South Africa, where he chose Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, as his new place of residence.

Angus Buchan achieved massive success in his farmland and lived a good life together with his family.
As a Christian, he felt he was responsible for evangelizing the gospel to the people around him, which was the principal idea behind creating his worship centre called Shalom Ministry.

He established the ministry together with his lovely wife, Jill Buchan as the co-founder. With evangelism’s eternal and ever-tasking work, Angus had no choice but to hand over his farmland to his able sons.

His ministry grew more substantial, and he moved from his community to the continent of Africa.

Angus Buchan travelled to several African countries and attended many seminars preaching the gospel. He was also the anchor of a religious TV show back in the day.

To move his ministry forward, he decided to publish a book depicting his true-life story, titled Faith Like Potatoes.

The book was successfully posted and distributed in 1998. The book became a movie in 2006 with the same title.

In 2001, a film was produced titled “Ordinary People”, a semi-biographical description about the development of his ministry from 1970 to 2012.
